Theodoros, protovestiarios, 8th century. Seal (Lead, 27 mm, 13.30 g, 12 h). Large cruciform monogram of XPICTE BOHΘEI ("Christ, help"). Rev. ΘЄOΔⲰ/PⲰ A' B/ЄCTIA/PIⲰ in four lines; above, cross. Zacos/Veglery 1634. A bold monogram on an impressive early Byzantine seal. Reverse slightly off centre, otherwise, about extremely fine.

As protovestiarios, Theodoros was a high-ranking courtier in charge of the imperial "wardrobe" - which included much more than the actual wardrobe, notably the imperial treasury. There was a group of officials engaged in the imperial "vestiarion", of which the protovestiarios was the chief. The office was traditionally reserved for eunuchs
